9 Ideas For the Science Fair

by Cadence Harris

        9. Does the color of our food affect if we like it?

I feel as if this would be a good experiment because it does show a lot about the way we interpret the things around us just by sight. And it's such a wide question making it so you can make any test for this. But, if you want me to give more descriptive ideas,

        8. Can mice learn? (you can pick another animal)

This one requires patience and time. See if a small animal, like a mouse or cat, can learn something simple like a phrase or movement. This one is harder, takes time, and money. That's why this one is so low on my list.

         7. Can plants grow in pots that are sideways or upside down?

This one actually really interests me. I wonder, since their are underground plants, if this would work. So if you want a very good science experiment that is pretty easy to get and set up. The reason this one is so far down on the list is because it would be frustrating trying to get the soil and plant to really stay in the pot.

        6. Does age affect reaction time?

This one is quite easy but, it'd be kind of hard to explain. You could explain how when you get older your reaction starts to slow down as you start to wear down. Other than that, this is a pretty good experiment.

         5. Does the color of hair affect the amount of static electricity?(test with balloons)

This one is kind of self explanatory.

         4. Can some people actually read minds?

For this experiment you would have to train your self and/or peers to read expressions really well. After that big step, this experiment becomes fairly easy. I'm quite excited to see if anyone does it!

3.Can people tell artificial smells from real ones?

I wonder if we can tell if we can tell the real ingredient smells from the fake ones. If we can, does it have to do with instincts. If not, why? this one is an okay experiment and can be done with things you find in your home or local restaurants.Image result for artifical vs real

2.Does music affect the behavior of animals?

What do animals real  hear when they listen to music? Make sure to study signs of emotions in animals before you do this experiment. This one is so high because it costs nothing, it's fairly easy, and it's still a good experiment!Image result for music and animals

         1. How much do we actually notice about the things going on around us?

I came up with this one! It explores how well we can block out background noise to focus. You'd be surprised by how much you miss every day because of this. Its not to really thing though.

If you need any tips or further explanations please say something on Edmodo or in class. Bye!

Social Studies Help

For homework this week we had to pages 1-9 in our Social Studies Packet and this is for people who may have not understood.(Note: this is for Tavares Elementary Students of  Stubbs, Rodriguez, and Garback)

      People Arrive in the Americas

It is believed that people, Native Americans, first arrived in North and South America by boat and foot. After they arrived people already had to face a major problem. A long time ago it was much colder than now(especially since we live in Florida xD) ,so the Native Americans migrated to warmer places across North America to find food. Soon they tracked animals to Central America and South America. As a result, Most of the areas in the Americas became filled.

   Learning to Use Land

Settling the Americas wasn't as easy and efficient as it seems. It took thousand of years! As they came to this new land, the Native Americans faced many new challenges. For example, high mountains, thick forests, and large bodies of water could cause many problems. But, they found many ways to adapt. This shaped their structures, cultures, and language. Most historians believe, at first, were hunter-gatherers. They typically traveled to find food from plants and hunt animal. Then around ten-thousand years ago agriculture became the next big step. Native Americans planted corn, beans, sweet potatoes, and other crops. Agriculture made it so people could stay in one place year round. Soon people made rules and government forming civilizations.

Mayans and Aztecs

Around four-thousand in Central America the Mayans, ,\ rose and really reached it's peak between three-hundred and nine-hundred A.D. The Mayas made systems for math and writing. They created a chart that recorded the "movements" of the sun. However, by one-thousand two hundred A.D. Soon the Aztecs rose. The Aztecs are also known as the Mexica (meh SHEE kah). The prized city of the Aztecs was Tenochtitlan (te nahk TEE tlahn). It is located where, now, Mexico City stands. The Aztecs were really good at farming. They constructed a system to move water to dry land. This is called irrigation.

Other Native American Cultures

Elsewhere, many other Native American Tribes merged. For example, the Inuit (in OOT) lived in a cold place making it hard to survive. But, they managed by making small canoes and built their homes out of blocks of ice. In the south, the Mound Builders developed a civilization about three thousand years ago. Their name come from, you guessed, from their large earthen structures. And finally, the Ancient Puebloan or Anasazi. They appeared about two- thousand years ago. They were farmers that used irrigation., They were also skillful builders as their buildings were called mesas. They were typically built on hills until about one-thousand one hundred A.D. when they began to build their houses under the shelter of cliffs like Mesa Verde.

This was for my classmates who were struggling with this. Post any further questions below.(Make a Blogger Profile).
