9 Ideas For the Science Fair
by Cadence Harris
9. Does the color of our food affect if we like it?
I feel as if this would be a good experiment because it does show a lot about the way we interpret the things around us just by sight. And it's such a wide question making it so you can make any test for this. But, if you want me to give more descriptive ideas,
8. Can mice learn? (you can pick another animal)
This one requires patience and time. See if a small animal, like a mouse or cat, can learn something simple like a phrase or movement. This one is harder, takes time, and money. That's why this one is so low on my list.
7. Can plants grow in pots that are sideways or upside down?
This one actually really interests me. I wonder, since their are underground plants, if this would work. So if you want a very good science experiment that is pretty easy to get and set up. The reason this one is so far down on the list is because it would be frustrating trying to get the soil and plant to really stay in the pot.
6. Does age affect reaction time?
This one is quite easy but, it'd be kind of hard to explain. You could explain how when you get older your reaction starts to slow down as you start to wear down. Other than that, this is a pretty good experiment.
5. Does the color of hair affect the amount of static electricity?(test with balloons)
This one is kind of self explanatory.
4. Can some people actually read minds?
For this experiment you would have to train your self and/or peers to read expressions really well. After that big step, this experiment becomes fairly easy. I'm quite excited to see if anyone does it!
3.Can people tell artificial smells from real ones?
I wonder if we can tell if we can tell the real ingredient smells from the fake ones. If we can, does it have to do with instincts. If not, why? this one is an okay experiment and can be done with things you find in your home or local restaurants.
2.Does music affect the behavior of animals?
What do animals real hear when they listen to music? Make sure to study signs of emotions in animals before you do this experiment. This one is so high because it costs nothing, it's fairly easy, and it's still a good experiment!
1. How much do we actually notice about the things going on around us?
I came up with this one! It explores how well we can block out background noise to focus. You'd be surprised by how much you miss every day because of this. Its not to really thing though.
If you need any tips or further explanations please say something on Edmodo or in class. Bye!
